Egan For Seattle

Today at 6pm, CM Sawant and the USPS will hold a forum at Garfield Community Center about the need to bring in a post office in our district. When the old post office was planned to go away, a young couple D’Vonne and Keanna worked incredibly hard to fill the gap when they opened The Postman at MLK and Union. I’m all for returning a post office to our neighborhood but I also want to be sure to keep great businesses owned by community members thriving. We can and must do both.

And for all your postal needs, please support The Postman! I do. (That’s me on a visit to Keanna)

I came, I listened. Kshama was there for a hot second and then left the meeting to her staff. But she was there long enough to misrepresent the story behind the good folks at The Postman. If you’re going to use people’s stories, get it right! I think this sort of public discourse is definitely helpful. People voted where they wanted their new post office (most voted for 23rd and Union where Electric Lady is or 34th up in Madrona). I would personally prefer to see something on Jackson but that wasn’t an option. I want a post office in my neighborhood but I also want my friends at The Postman to do well. Let’s continue the conversation.
